Questions to Ask Minimize

Smart questions to ask your cake designer.

1) Will you bake my wedding/event cake from 'scratch' or from a cake mix?

Believe it or NOT, some local (Twin Cities) cake designers are using CAKE MIXES to make your wedding/event cake. Is that okay with you? 

The Cake Diva makes all of her cakes from scratch using pure ingredients including flour, sugar, organic eggs, organic butter (or canola oil), leavening, pure vanilla or almond extract, and rich imported European chocolate with no added preservatives, corn syrup, or shortening! And all of The Cake Diva's ingredients are sourced locally (except for imported chocolate and cocoa powder) so you can feel great about supporting a small business.

2) Will you freeze my cake at any time during the process of making my wedding/event cake?

Many local bakeries and cake designers are freezing cakes in order to make as much profit as they can in any given week/weekend.

The Cake Diva NEVER FREEZES cake at any time during the making and designing of your wedding cake, and you will taste the difference! Cakes that are frozen are dry, crumbly, and have an off-taste due to the freezing process.

3) Who will be baking, decorating, and delivering my wedding/event cake?

Some local bakeries employ bakers who have no idea the care needed to bake a perfectly moist cake. And their decorators and delivery staff have little experience to draw from when time to handle your dreamy dessert.

The Cake Diva mixes and bakes each cake so you KNOW you will receive an amazingly moist, perfectly baked cake!!! The Cake Diva also decorates and delivers your cake with over 6 years of awards and experience in using fondant, buttercream, and royal icing to decorate your cake beautifully.

 

 

  

Tasting and Contract Minimize

The Cake Tasting

Cake Tastings are offered to clients ordering $200 or more of product.

The Cake Diva requires a non-refundable $100 deposit for a cake tasting which is applied to your cake contract. For the tasting, you choose 3 cake flavors, 3 fillings, and 3 icings. These cake flavor choices can be found on the  MENU Tab under 'Design a Cake.' The Cake Diva will combine your choices into 3 small cakes baked fresh for our appointment.

For the tasting, I am happy to meet you at a local coffee shop covenient for both of us anywhere in the Twin Cities. I am available for appointments during the day or evening. Please allow at least 4 days notice for a custom tasting.

 

The Cake Contract

The Cake Diva will complete a contract for custom cake orders over $200 so that all parties know EXACTLY the cake size/type, design, flavor, number of servings, and other tiny details associated with your order. The contract will note all fees included on your order including sales tax, delivery, design fees (if applicable), and any other costs associated with your cake design. Color swatches must be submitted for a close match. I cannot promise an exact color match in fondant nor buttercream as we are dealing with sugar - not paint from a can.

A 25% deposit is placed at least 3 months in advance of your wedding or event date to reserve your date on The Cake Diva's calendar.  Deposits are non-refundable. The outstanding balance will be made 30 prior to your event date.

The Cake Diva does not accept personal checks but will accept cash, money orders, and PayPal payments (each PayPal payment will be charged an additional 3% fee.)

The Cake Diva will not allow any outside desserts to be provided at your wedding reception. If The Cake Diva arrives at your wedding reception and finds other cakes or desserts present, The Cake Diva reserves the right to break the contract and not complete the wedding cake delivery. I instill this for your safety and the safety of your guests.

 

 

 

  

Basic Pricing Minimize

Pricing

Tiered Cakes - made with 3 layers of exquisite cake, 2 layers of filling, iced in Italian buttercream.

TIERED CAKE PRICING starts at $6.50 per slice for Italian buttercream cakes and includes basic design details (piped edges, simple piped design on sides of cake, birthday/anniversary message, and filling of choice).

TIERED chocolate and nut-based cakes start at $7.00 per slice.

TIERED fondant cakes are $7.00 - $8.00 per slice.

Design fees for intricate designs and most custom designs are an additional fee.


SIDE CAKES or SHEETCAKES - Unfilled or Filled Cake

UNFILLED sheetcakes are simply one layer of cake iced in a creamy Italian buttercream.

FILLED sheetcakes are made with 2 layers of exquisite cake, 1 layer of filling, iced in a creamy Italian buttercream.

PRICING for sheetcakes will vary depending on the size of cake needed. Here is a little guide:

    Unfilled:  $2.40/slice;    $2.80/slice  for chocolate & nut-based cakes

    Filled:  $3.00/slice;    $3.50 for chocolate & nut-based cakes.

 

Sizes for side cakes vary. Please ask for more information OR refer to the cake chart found on my MENU Tab.

Pricing is subject to increase at any time due to the fluctuation of the cost of ingredients, transportation, and other prices.


  

Dessert Options Minimize

Cupcakes, Cake Pops, Centerpiece Cakes, Mini  Pies & Tarts & More!

Cupcakes

3 sizes of cupcakes are available. Cupcakes are made from scratch and iced in Italian buttercream. Flavors can be found in the MENU Tab under Design a Cake.  Cupcake towers (as in photo below) can be rented at minimal cost.

CUPCAKE SIZES: MINI - $1.95 each; REGULAR- $3.25 each; JUMBO - $4.25 each

Price breaks are offered when ordering 11 or more dozen cupcakes.

Cake Pops  (Cake on a stick!)

Cake Pops are a huge hit at weddings and events. They start with scrumptious cake mixed with Italian buttercream, rolled and placed on a stick, frozen, and then dipped in rich Dark Chocolate or White 'Almond Bark. Cake pops can be  rolled in nuts, coconut, candy sprinkles, etc. Pricing is set at $3.00 each; custom designs are an additional $1-3 each depending on design. Flavors include:

Centerpiece Cakes

Many clients are choosing small 6" round cakes to be placed at the center of each reception table. These cakes act as the table decoration and the self-serve dessert. Centerpiece cakes are very popular with guests, as they get to cut and serve themselves.

Pricing for 6" round cakes is $55 each, and includes simple design details (piped borders, Swiss dots, etc). Glass cake stands are available to rent at minimal cost.

Mini Pies and Tarts

Pricing for Mixed Pastry Trays (see photos below) are $2.50 - 3.75 each.

Choices include French Macarons, 3" Shortbread Tarts (with handmade crusts), Cookies-on-a-Stick, Mini Chocolate Eclairs, and more!
